Social Work - Embarking on a Social Work Journey

Revamped my blog to mark a start of a new journey. Want to document down every learning points, practices, challenges and stories in my blog on social work. I have officially moved on from admin to medical track. I do foresee the road ahead to be very different but yet fulfilling.

Questions asked:

Why the medical track? It can be tiring and tedious.
My passion for social work sparked off when I was an executive in a department call Patient Empowerment and Community Engagement. As a junior exec, I've gained much knowledge from my assistant manager. Working for her side by side on the various initiatives that she is driving. We worked with various community partners and GPs to empower patients and deliver patient-centric care. My job scope was mainly working with external partners, implementing workflows and churning of data. I love the work that I was doing. However, something is missing and there was this urge to do more. I started researching "the other side" which refers to the community partners and I want to be the one to do the intervention work instead. Also, a passion for improving the quality of life for these patients.

So... Where to start?
I've applied for the Professional Conversion Program for social work and transferred to a new department call "Collaborative Care".
Studies (Grad-dip) - 1.5 years
Bond - 1.5 years

Of course, I will be pegged down for the time being and start off as a social work associate.

Why take Graduate Diploma and not Masters?
It's for those who already have a non-related first degree. There a few Pre-requisite Courses which I do have to take in UniSIM before proceeding on.
To qualified as a social worker - minimal you will need a Bachelor Degree in social work.

After my studies, what's next?
I will move on to be a full-fledged Medical Social Worker.

My Facial Routine

"Beauty isn't about having a pretty face. It is about having a pretty mind, a pretty heart, and most importantly, a beautiful soul."

However, regular facial routine is still important to keep these pretty and confident girls.. happy :)  

Well...I am more of a "product" person. So, those who goes shopping with me would know that I frequent Watson, Guardian and Sa Sa alot.

Above are my usual facial-care routine everyday. If I am lazy, it would be every other day. Super 爱美 《3 女人吗？难免的啦。。

Below are the products I will use in sequence:
1. Simple - Facial Toner
2. Skin Doctor - Eyetuck (To reduce the eye bags and dark circles)
3. Dr G - Moisture Ampoule
4. Dr G - Water Soothing Gel Cream
5. TheFaceShop - Bright Eyes Modeling Gel

I am trying my best to get at least 8 hours of sleep as well. Which sometimes it can be quite impossible to do so. haha!

Hair and face products

#heartpain I trimed off about 4cm of my hair because of the many split ends:( May need some time to grow back my hair.

                                                     

Went up to research on what kind of vitamins to take for faster growth in hair. And there are many reviews on the GNC - hair, skin and nails formula. Gonna test it out and see if it really works. 

Hahaha, bought other products as well.

This is my current hair length:) let's wait and see if there are any results. Haha, my back look really manly.

Tribute site - Mr Lee Kuan Yew

Went down to one of the Nee Soon Tribute Site to write our condolences to Mr Lee Kuan Yew. The messages were really touching. #heavyheart

Sat - 21 March 2015

It is a brand new start for Joshie and I. On our way to church.. Before that we stop by to grab a quick lunch!:) joshie's favourite waffles:) hahahah

2nd celebration with the CG:)) hahaha hair all messed up!

Josh and I❤️ pardon the crazy hair - hahaha 2nd time my hair was mess up~  As many of you do not know that Josh and I had been through a lot for these past 3 months - stability in jobs, on a emotional roller- coaster rides, financial and etc. It was tough but we fought through the battles and held on to that glimpse of hope that we had. And finally finally I secure my sponsorship for social work  and Josh got a stable job for sound. It was all for a passion, a cause and a calling that we have to pursue in our life. We are closing this chapter of our lives and moving ahead to the next one:) Thanks for the constant prayers, encouragement and most of all the love ❤️ for both of us.  @joshuabeoulve we finally made it through! Ready for the next phase of life? I'm always with you and God is always with us:) 

After that, we went to collect banana cake from Clar.

This girl still type a long message to teach me how to steam the cake:)) hahaha.

My birthday - Part 2

So... Joshie brought me to the Alive Museum:) hahaha we had so much fun trying to take the best angle to look more 3D.

Everything looks so real and 3D:) Especially the cat one! 

After that we went home for dinner. 

So my papa can cook really well. I think he really loves me a lot.. Taking care of me since I was very young. I recalled fetching me from school, feeding me lunch, tying my pony-tail. Besides his naggy-ness, he is really the best dad ever! 

Joshie's birthday card to me~ I am very touched reading through every single word written in this letter. Yes, we do face many ups and downs. Every quarrels that we've been through, it has made us stronger. Of course I want to be your future wife.. Waiting for the BIG surprise!

Joshie knows I love birds, nature, animals and etc.. So he brought me again to rider's cafe:) and loving it!

When the clock strikes 12:)

Hey all, I turned 24 years old today! Haha, oh my.. Next year would be mid 20s~ Thanks clar and vivi for the surprise today! Am touched by the gesture~ no wonder clar would asked me to do my eye mask so that I can be distracted somehow. Hahaha smart move 😏 I love Clar's ice cream cake! Always wanted a cake for my birthday.

Am still feeling down after my interview but am glad to have you guys over to cheer me up. Vivi knows I love apple cider:) haha something to end the night.

Before that clar texted me on FB asking if I want to have dinner.. Then she say she will bring over and we can do "online shopping" together too~ random things we do.. But I do love the girlie moments together:)

I don't know what my future holds. Am not aggressive but I have a willing heart for people. That's what it all matters doesn't it? Even if I do not get in, I will do something else to fulfil my calling and purpose.  Night world~
