Interest in Origami

Hellooooo all,

So recently I've developed an interest in Origami. I've chanced upon a website "Paper Kawaii" - http://www.paperkawaii.com/, and it had inspired me to make all these cute Origami. I didn't know it can be so therapeutic and fun.

I recalled when I was young, My dad taught me how to make an origami ball, shirt and frog. I did enjoy my time folding papers and doing handicraft work. So, I should continue the things I enjoy doing I guess.

Below are two Origami animals, I've made. I took a photo with the plants outside my house. Thought it would be fun mixing Origami with nature :)

No. 1 : Origami Crow

No. 2 : Origami Dinosaur in a pot

Although it's just a short 20 minutes making these Origami but it felt so good escaping from reality and into the Origami world for awhile~

Two major event in my life : 2016

It's been some time since I blog. I am not sure what came over me, but there are lots of emotions going through me right now. So, let's see what have I done for the past one year...

Completing my final semester
I have gone through a really tough last semester, but yes, I still managed to complete all assignments, projects and examinations. When I was asked what is the caused of stress for this semester.. honestly I can't really pinpoint a specific reason, but perhaps it was the stress of juggling with work and school.

To me, it is really not easy juggling work and school together. When I am at work, I think about the amount of assignment that I have to complete, and when I am doing my assignment, I think about what I need to do at work.

Also, I think the content of the last semester was really tough. I am already so poor in Math and my fear of numbers kind of decrease my level of understanding for the topic in research. I had so much fear when doing presentations and group discussions. It was a really tough semester for me. I am not ready to share what I am going through now. But I know I will get well and better soon. I am working on things, emotions or whatever you call it but I know I will get better some day.

Proposal and marriage
Okay, I guess my relationship is something that I hold dearly in my life right now. It's something joyful to look forward too. Josh and I are getting married next year on 14 October 2017. Its the one thing that keeps me going right now. Oh, and the proposal I had was really simple and an intimate one. Josh proposed in Bintan, Indonesia during July 2016 and we enjoyed ourselves on the trip.

We've booked our wedding venue and the bridal package as well. It's going to be a small and intimate wedding too. Not grand and fancy but just a small wedding with my loved ones. The bridal package, we have booked the package from Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The bridal shop is called Destino Bridal. Shall blog more about it next time.

I guess, these are the two big things which happened in 2016. In fact, 2016 it's a year which I faced so many emotional turmoils, battling with my own emotions and fighting with my bad and good self. I wonder how would 2017 be like.
Some homework for me to do this week:  Identify 100 positive things about myself and to acknowledge my own feelings/ be authentic to my true feelings.

With love,
Alicia Toh

Sundate at Cafe Etc. - Steakhouse, Bar & Grill

Love dressing up on a Sunday. Heading to church and going on a "Sundate" with Joshie.
Below is the verse which I've learnt in service and its like a constant reminder in our everyday lives.
"He is before all things, and in him all things hold together" - Colossians 1:17
At times we've forgotten that he is the ultimate sustainer in our lives. He alone sustain our life and holding all things together for us.

Haha. A selfie while waiting for Joshie to drive out for lunch at Upper Thomson.

We finally settled down at a cafe :

Cafe Etc. - Steakhouse, Bar & Grill

Truffle Fries it's a MUST HAVE when we are on a date in a cafe. Don't ask me why.. but it seems to be a "usual" for us already.

A wefie with Joshie to end our Sundate!

Enjoying every single moment spent with Joshie <3

Singapore Cafe: Hangout @ Sin Lee Foods

Met up my ex-PA colleagues on a Saturday
Its pretty rare that all of us are available on a weekend.

It was Jessica's turn to suggest on the food place this month.
Haha, usually we take turns to suggest on food places but I've decided to opt out.
Well... not very good at giving food suggestions.

So.... this month's meet up was at Sin Lee Foods.
Overall, I love the place :) The dishes were pretty fusion.

Tada..

Don't be deceived by the "greeny" yucky broccoli look. I tell you, this is onw of my favourite dish.
Its so crispy!

Aburi Broccoli Salad

Soft Shell Bun (Can't exactly remember the name of this dish)

Smoked Salmon Hash

The Breakfast Tortilla

Sin Lee's Fried Chicken and Waffles
This is really sinful! Not a fan of fried food but overall, the fried chicken complements the waffle nicely. Giving a sweet-salty taste.

6 of us - Rare meetup on a Saturday :)

Sin Lee Foods
Blk 4 Jalan Bukit Ho Swee #01-164 Singapore 162004
Opening Hours: 10am – 9pm (Tues-Sun), Closed Mon except PH

Friendship and catching up

So long since we last met. I am glad we did and it was nice catching up with every single one of them.
We are all busy with our lives but I am glad that everyone is striving hard to achieve our goals.

We were all friends from secondary school except for Jojo and Vivian (know since primary schools).
So I can say we do know each other in and out. Ermmm, which means even the most ugly sight of us is nothing new. However, we are all quick to forgive and forget. I think that is the no. 1 rule in friendship.

We all have flaws in our own ways but that's how we learnt through experiences.

I don't have much friends...
Which I feel its not really necessary and prefer quality than quantity.
Over the years, I've growth to be more of the "listening ear" to friends than me sharing much about my life. Which I really like it a lot, that's probably why I choose to study social work. I like helping, providing solutions to people or rather just listening.

Oh, and I do treasure these friends a lot :) They are friends whom I would like to keep for life.

Anyways, we were talking about marriage, renovation, work and boyfriends (husbands to be). hahaha! Our conversation have growth so much over the years. Previously, the conversations were about boys, school, girls drama and etc.. hahaha

Looking forward to every meet-up!
Next up will be for Tsai Ting's birthday :)
